I have been working on this site since 1999. It’s been worked, reworked and reworked. It has taken many forms and thrusts in its gestation. It was initially pure html, then it became PHPNuke, then Mambo. In January the blog- which took less than a month to build- went up. Well, the pregnancy is finally over. fungaijames.com finally runs.

The blog is a Wordpress joint and the main site is courtesy of a jam with Joomla!.

This may help other people who may have this problem that I had with Joomla! 1.5.x. I finished uploading the files for the site on Saturday but when I tried to run it all I got was a blank page. I tried everything I know to troubleshoot the site but it was still giving a blank page.

On Sunday I took some time to try it again. Nothing. Same Monday. Same Tuesday.

Aaaaaarrrgghhh! Angst! I was getting pretty frustrated and thinking that perhaps I should have stuck with Joomla! 1.0.x.

Then today I ran something called Joomla! Diagnostics and that made ALL the difference. It basically scans a Joomla! installation and tells you which files are missing.

I found that it picked up that the System folder (located in the Templates folder) and its associated files were missing. I had deliberately not uploaded this folder thinking it was not necessary. But there you go. I uploaded it and just like that! The site started working!
